Diabetes Management: Ayurvedic Secrets to Control Blood Sugar Naturally

Diabetes has become a growing concern due to modern lifestyles. While many rely on medications to manage it, some Ayurvedic remedies and dietary changes can help control diabetes naturally, without medicine.

1. Make Dietary Changes

People with diabetes should avoid wheat and refined flour (maida). Instead, they should incorporate whole grains like ragi, maize, and millet into their diet. If consuming rice, opt for brown rice in small portions.

Avoid Sweets and Sugary Fruits

Limit fruits with high sugar content like mangoes and grapes.

Avoid sweets and desserts as they cause blood sugar levels to spike rapidly.

2. Cut Down on Carbohydrates

Increase the consumption of vegetables and salads since they contain fewer carbohydrates. Reducing the number of chapatis and increasing the intake of vegetables can help maintain blood sugar levels.

3. Use Ayurvedic Herbs

Ayurvedic remedies play a crucial role in managing diabetes naturally:

Fenugreek seeds (Methi): Swallowing fenugreek seeds with water on an empty stomach helps regulate sugar levels.

Bitter gourd (Karela) and Jamun: Drinking karela juice daily helps control blood sugar. However, the quantity should be regulated, with half a cup being sufficient.

Paneer Doda: Soak paneer doda overnight and drink the water in the morning for better sugar control.

Sadabahar Flowers: Chewing 7 flowers of sadabahar daily can also help in managing diabetes effectively.

4. Exercise Regularly

Engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day, such as walking or light exercises. Regular activity improves insulin sensitivity and keeps body weight under control.

5. Eat Smaller Meals Frequently

Avoid long gaps between meals. Instead, eat small portions two to three times a day to maintain stable blood sugar levels. Consuming chickpeas (chana) as a snack can also be beneficial, providing both fiber and protein.

6. Include Millets in Your Diet

Millets such as ragi and bajra are ideal for diabetes management. They have a low glycemic index, providing sustained energy while keeping blood sugar levels in check.

Conclusion

Managing diabetes is achievable with the right lifestyle changes. Regular use of herbs, a well-balanced diet, and consistent exercise not only help maintain sugar levels but also reduce the risks associated with diabetes.
